Equestrians have such low expectations when it comes to boys.

"Oh, he came to the barn with you? MARRIAGE MATERIAL!!!"

"Omg, he bought a saddle pad for your b-day, marry him!"

"Omg, he rides horses, I’ve never met him before and he can be a total dick but I don’t give a shit because HORSES!!!"

musings

I’ve missed photography so much.  Our trip to the Outer Banks really rejuvinated my love for being behind a lens, and I’ve been shooting non-stop for the past month.  I haven’t posted anything on this blog yet, but I’m thinking I’ll sit down and sort of my favorites and throw them up here in a day or two…

Otherwise, life’s been pretty normal.  Desperately trying to find a ‘real’ job with no luck (entry level =/= 2-5 years experience, recruiters!) and spending most of my free time working at the barn to make whatever cash I can.

Gali and Acorn have been going well, as is Rowdy, our little lesson pony project.  Championships with Acorn were a mild disaster, but I’m hoping for better results (aka… placing, at all) with Gali in two weeks at another Championship show.  Riding Acorn all summer has really made me appreciate Galahad, and now nice it is to have all of my hard work turn into something that almost looks like a dressage horse, haha.

Back in October of 2012, picturesque seaside communities across the Northeastern United States were taken off guard by Hurricane Sandy.

Brooklyn-based photographer Douglas Ljungkvist did a series of photos that shows the idyllic town of Ocean Beach, New Jersey before and after the powerful storm.

Really great photo essay at the link above… but it’s hard to detach myself from this particular one.  I’ve spent years looking through photo essays of incredible disasters, and this one sticks a little more because a good friend of mine lived in this town and his family is still not back in their home.
